With the need for a vehicle with the capabilities of an agricultural tractor and a commercial tipper, that wasn't a large as a Mercedes Unimog, I decided to convert a Land Rover Defender 110 High Capacity to fulfil these requirements.
Having removed the Land Rover Defender High Capacity rear body, I shortened the rear cross member and strengthened the rear chassis. This gave me the space to fit the rear 3 point linkage from a David Brown 996 tractor. I constructed an attachment frame for the rear axle to take the 3 point hitch lower bars. To counteract any movement in the suspension when the 3 point linkage is used I installed heavy duty springs and 'helper' air bags in the rear. To aid with the control of the 3 point hitch I sourced the Bosch Electronic Hitch Control System from a Massey Ferguson 3060 tractor, this will help with implement control from inside the the Land Rover Defender cabin.
